This unique flatweave kilim reflects the centuries-old totemic motifs of the Qashqai tribe of southern eastern Persia. The Qashqai (Ghashghai, Kashgai) is a large confederation of pastoral nomads tribes who migrate with their livestock on a seasonal basis. The tribe resided in the Caucasus and Central Asia for numerous generations before moving to southern Persia. As a result, their ethnic carpets are enriched by influences from each of these three lands. Like the vintage carpets of the Turkmen tribe in Central Asia, the weaving possesses of Persian Qashqai carpets is a directness and a boldness. Qashqai Kilim its a flat-woven rug in which the weft threads form the pattern and the colors made using a slit tapestry technique. These Rugs are typically geometric in style or contain motifs of stylised birds, animals, and flowers surrounding a diamond shaped central lozenge.
This small Qashqai kilim rug has amazing natural dyes and is just shining. Stunning colors and a great choice for floors or display.
*Note: Photos taken under natural light and are part of the description as they reflect the true condition of the rug.
