Dagestan antique rugs and carpets were produced in the Eastern part of Caucasus. They share a relation to Shirvan and Kuba rugs, which were woven in the same region. The antique Dagestan rugs and carpets use a small scale design, covering a large area with intricate detail, along with pattern repetition. This format was adapted with ease by Dagestan rug weavers to produce prayer rugs by adding on a simplified mihrab or niche at the top of the motif. The colors generally seen on the antique Dagestan rugs are diverse and lavish, with a focus on reds, blues, greens and yellows.
This fine Soumak rug has amazing natural dyes and is just shining. Stunning colors and a great choice for floors or display.
*Note: Photos taken under natural light and are part of the description as they reflect the true condition of the rug.
All of our hand-knotted rugs are professionally washed and treated. All rugs are individually inspected before leaving our warehouse.
