Description
Turkmen weaving is both highly collectable and invigorating. The various Turkmen tribes of Central Asia are known for their elaborate and often rigid social structures, the paradigms of which are reflected in their weaving. This exceptional piece was made originally as a tent-door cover, or “Ensi”.
Beautiful late 19th century fine Turkmen rug with a geometrical and tribal design and nice natural colors, entirely and finely hand knotted with wool velvet on wool foundation. Areas of in central and some wear throughout as seen in the photoes.
